01 Oct 2021 “Coming home to the family”: Wiltshire’s Downes Transport joins the Pallet-Track network
Wiltshire haulier Downes Transport has said a return to the Pallet-Track network is like “coming home to the family” after signing a contract to cover the SP postcode from Monday (October 4).
Wolverhampton-based Pallet-Track said it was thrilled that family-owned Downes, which is based in Amesbury, had decided to rejoin after a short spell with another network.
Downes Transport was set up in 1995 by Douglas Downes, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the haulage industry, and was later joined in the business by his son Craig.
The business is located at the Boscombe Down Business Park on the A303, linking the South West and London, and offers pallet distribution services to anywhere in the world.
Craig, now a company director, said: “We’ve worked with a number of pallet networks over the years and returning to Pallet-Track feels like coming home to the family.
“Like Pallet-Track, we pride ourselves on service and quality and we know this is a perfect partnership.
“Being part of a network such as Pallet-Track gives us the strong footing we need to continue providing an outstanding service to our customers, in light of the unprecedented challenges our industry has faced over the last 18 months.”
Caroline Green, chief executive of Pallet-Track, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Downes Transport back to our network.
“This year has seen an increase in demand for our services in a volatile marketplace and adding another network member such as Downes, with its great reputation for quality and service, will further enhance our offering in the south.”
