20 Dec 2016 Firmin Up The Future
A multi-million pound haulage company which started life as a working farm – a business it still cultivates almost 80 years later – has become the newest member of the growing Pallet-Track network.
Alan Firmin Ltd – a leading provider of road transport, distribution and logistics services throughout Kent, the south-east, the UK and Europe – joined Pallet-Track from Palletforce today (December 12th), as part of its long-term strategy to further develop its business during 2017.
The move follows a year of Pallet-Track re-energising and successfully managing the Kent post code itself, as a temporary measure while it sought a new strategic partner with strong local connections.
Alan Firmin Ltd, founded in 1937 as a means of transporting livestock to market, has strong environmental credentials – from the farm to the fleet – and also boasts its own recruitment agency in an attempt to plug the chronic driver shortage impacting the industry.
Paul Denyier, director of the family-owned business which is also launching its own Courier Express Division, said: “We are pleased to be joining Pallet-Track as a shareholder member as it is of one of the UK’s leading overnight pallet networks. This exciting new move will enable us to continue to provide a comprehensive solutions for large and small consignments, whilst maintaining the high standards of quality and service that our customers have come to expect.”
Nigel Parkes, founder and managing director at Wolverhampton-based Pallet-Track, said: “Firmin Transport joining Pallet-Track is a significant coup for us. It is major player in Kent and the south-east and it brings with it a rich history and innovative ideas for the future, not only for the network, but also the industry.”
“This is our fifth new member this year which represents a great end to 2016 for Pallet-Track, which has even more ambitious plans for next year.”
